CIRCUMVOLUTUS

Latin word for Convolution: Winding around a central point or axis.

If the photograph testifies the reality of a specific moment, it is also the witness of the photographer's gaze and point of view on that specific moment. This reflection is the starting point of Circumvolutus, a series of silver photographs, resulting from a collective work by Greg Calvache and Céline Fischer.

Two photographers, two different gazes that twirl around the same reality, or even two very distinct realities that converge and respond to each other in a visual echo laid down on baryta paper.

An analog road trip, a journey with no destination through which the word “deviation” takes on its full meaning...

Greg Calvache and Céline Fischer now only work with film photography, they develop their own negatives and make all their black & white prints by hand, under their enlarger, in the darkroom...

Each print is the result of many hours of commitment in work. Timeless photography, far from the productivity requirements of our contemporary world.
